Buck, was born and raised in Colorado and has been captivated by the outdoors for all his life, following the footsteps of his father who shared the love of the mountains. He founded Paragon Guides and Paragon Odysseys to provide unique adventure-based experiences for individuals, families and organizations in an atmosphere that promotes an appreciation for the natural environment while providing both reflective and challenging opportunities to explore one’s spirit of adventure.
Buck's love of the mountains and interest in education and human development involved him in a number of organizations including the formation of 10th Mountain Division Hut System, the Edges Coaching Community, the Walking Mountains Science Center and the Vail Leadership Institute. Buck also worked for the Colorado Outward Bound School, Colorado Mountain College and the Center for Creative Leadership along with other educational organizations.
Buck, and his wife Holly, have been active supporters of both humanitarian and educational endeavors both within the Vail Valley and beyond for many years. They live in Edwards, Colorado along with their dogs, the Paragon llamas, and a covey of grandchildren.
"As we seek to deepen our understanding of ourselves, we may find ourselves inextricably linked to our natural environment, both as a metaphor for our own lives and as a way of affirming life itself."
