our commitment

leave no trace

Emphasizing the seven Leave No Trace principles, guides educate participants on minimizing their impact, such as planning ahead, disposing of waste properly, leaving what they find, respecting wildlife, and being considerate of other visitors.

Advocates of Human Powered Movement

We are more than just outdoor enthusiasts. We believe in the transformative power of immersing oneself in nature, pushing our own physical abilities to explore and connect with the world around us. We believe in the transformative power of outdoor experiences, creating opportunities for personal growth, self-discovery, and a deep appreciation for the land.

Environmental Education

During trips, guides share knowledge about the local ecology, geology, and history, fostering a deeper connection and appreciation for the natural world. This education encourages responsible outdoor behavior.

Safety and Preparedness

By teaching proper preparation and safety techniques, guides stress the importance of minimizing risk not only to oneself but also to the environment. This includes avalanche safety in winter and weather preparedness in all seasons.

Sustainable Practices

Guides model and teach sustainable outdoor practices, such as using established trails to prevent erosion, minimizing campfire impacts, and choosing eco-friendly products.

Community and Cultural Respect

Educating participants about the history and culture of the areas visited, including the traditional lands of Indigenous peoples, to foster respect and understanding.

Conservation Advocacy

Sharing information on local conservation efforts and how individuals can contribute to protecting the places they visit. This might include supporting local conservation organizations or participating in trail maintenance days.

Skill Development

Teaching skills such as navigation, campcraft, and minimal impact camping, which empower participants to explore the backcountry responsibly on their own.

Land Acknowledgement

We pay our respects to the Southern Ute Indians, the Indigenous peoples of this land. The Southern Ute Indians referred to this region as “The Shining Mountains,” a homage to the magnificent peaks of the Rocky Mountains. They cultivated a distinct bond with the environment, understanding the significance of giving and receiving. As you engage with Paragon Guides, we hope to inspire a way of life that embraces movement, stewardship, and education, fostering a lasting connection to nature and a profound reverence for wildlife and the land we tread upon.
